Welcome

Poise, grace and soulful gesture

We are thrilled that you've chosen our school to pursue this wonderful dance form — one of the major classical dance forms of India. Students of all ages and backgrounds are welcome; passion is the only pre-requisite.

Together we explore poise, grace and soulful gesture through this ancient art, passed down from the masters to students under the Guru–Shishya parampara. We pride ourselves on committed teaching that develops balance, coordination and aesthetic awareness — benefiting students in real life by building confidence, self-esteem and a deeper understanding of this culture.

“We develop the student not only as a dancer, but as a well-rounded human being.”

A brief background

About Kuchipudi

Kuchipudi is one of the classical Indian dance forms. It is named after the village of the same name in Andhra Pradesh, South India, and was founded by Guru Siddhendra Yogi in the 15th century.

Like other classical forms, Kuchipudi weaves together nritta (pure rhythmic movement), nritya (expressive storytelling) and natya (dramatic interpretation). It is known for its grace, fluidity and quicksilver footwork — and for abhinaya, the art of expression, where a clear, unobstructed face brings a story to life.

Body conditioning matters. Because Kuchipudi asks so much of the body, our training emphasises safe conditioning, gradual progression and rest whenever needed. Students are always encouraged to come gently out of a posture if they feel any discomfort — the art is a lifelong practice, not a sprint.
